The objectives of the FSBI shall be to encourage, promote and support all branches of fish biology and fisheries science and conservation.

The charity runs a school which provides education to children based on a curriculum inspired by the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner. The school is a non-selective, independent co-educational school for pupils aged 3 to 11.

To maintain and extend plant collections, make them available to the public, ensure scientific integrity of records and develop educational and information services

Building on the late Dr Joseph Needham's foundation, the Institute facilitates, promotes and develops academic research, publication and teaching in the fields of the history of science, medicine and technology in East Asia.

Funding Medical Research

To support research into the causation nature and treatment of patients with testicular cancer and other forms of malignant disease, particularly prostate cancer. Having built a laboratory with the Institute of Cancer Research there is a greater element of research into prostate cancer. The Bob Champion Research and Education Building was opened at the Norwich Research Park in February 2015.

Supports research, education and training in reproductive biology and reproductive science.Holds one or two national or international conferences each year, sometimes in association with other learned societies.Provides grants in support of travel, special publications and other activities as agreed by the the Society's Council of Management.Owns and publishes an academic journal: Reproduction

The Mineralogical Society of the United Kingdom and Ireland, also known as the MinSoc, is an international society for all those working in the mineral sciences (mineralogy, crystallography, petrology and geochemistry). The Society aims to advance the knowledge of those sciences, and promotes them through scientific meetings and the publication of two scientific journals, both available online.

Support the funding of specific projects relating to medical,scientific and educational research.

Advancement of education by promoting the study of the Natural Sciences and Human History.Particular emphasis is placed on Natural History, Archeology, Anthropology, Ethnography, Social and Local History and the Industrial and Decorative Arts.

The trustees receive applications for donations from a wide variety of charitable institutions including those engaged in medical and ancillary services (including medical research), education, helping the disabled and old aged, relieving poverty, providing sheltered accommodation, developing the arts etc. In the year the trustees made donations of ?233,379 to a wide variety of charities.
