The Sea Cadets is nationwide voluntary youth organisation, open to young people aged 12 to 18 and with Junior Sections open to those of 10 to 12 years of age, run by qualified adult volunteers. Its aim is to provide Cadets with structured training so they can progress towards good citizenship, as well as achieve nationally recognized qualifications.

To promote the Christian religion by such legally charitable means as the Trustees shall in their discretion think fit in Formbynear Liverpool and the area around it and in furtherance of these objects to:-1. Citizenship Training of young people of both sexes, up to the age of 20 years old, including adventure training, as well as stimulating an interest in aviation.

As a local civic society we organise educational activities to encourage awareness of local heritage. We hold seminars to share best practice with similar towns and we make recommendations to the local councils on the physical and economic development of the town. We publish educational books on the local environment and we support local schools in their citizenship curriculum.

Scout GroupThe Group's aim, in common with that of the Scout Association, is the physical, mental and spiritual development of young people.
