Townswomen's Guilds (TG) acts as an umbrella organisation for the national movement. It provides administrative frameworks and works to promote the movement across the UK by assisting in the formation of new Guilds and in the recruitment of new members. It provides national events to bring members together, a magazine to link members and campaigns on matters that make women's lives better .

To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Alwoodley by providing facilities for social welfare and recreation currently including Art, Badminton, Carpet Bowls, Chess, Football, Junior Chess, Lace & Craft, Sinfonia, Singers, Social Club, Table Tennis, Tennis.Affiliated Groups - Scouts & Guides, Townswomen's Guild

A National Womens organisation providing monthly meetings with interesting speakers, demonstrations & outings to places of local interest.

Luncheon Club , Indoor Bowls, Bingo, Drama Club, Keep Fit, Townswomen's Guild and Disabled Group, keep fit, Wood turners , Mini pamper sessions, Auction, MS Society, Street Sports (during winter months).

Broadway Youth & Community Centre provides a hall with facilities for community use in the Grindon/Barnes area of Sunderland.Current activities include Children's Dance lessons, Toddler groups, fitness classes for all ages with Active Families NE, a meeting venue for the Association of Sunderland Town Women's Guilds, Broadway Towns Womens Guild and Sunderland & District Model Railway Society.

The guild meets monthly for social activity. We have a wide range of speakers, covering many topics i.e. a teacher who helped children to become independant, although they were blind, a very interesting talk on antiques. A different speaker comes along each month. We also have a lightcraft section, and visit places of interest, also visits to the theatre.

The provision of buildings, facilities and open space for use by local and wider community for a range of recreation/sports and other activities. i.e. art/lace making/karate/dance/aerobics classes. Indoor bowls, tumble tots (pe for infants). WI/Towns Women's Guild, parish council. Police & community meetings. Parties/weddings etc. Conferences/exhibitions, polling station (elections).

To meet together regularly, regardless of politics, race or circumstance, to exchange ideas, develop new skills and interests and above all to have fun.

Provide a meeting place for local activities e.g. Dancing (all types), Karate, Whist, Towns Women's Guild, Senior Citizens and Children's Parties

Isle of Wight Federation of Townswomen's Guilds bring together all the other guilds on the island to share information news and views, help with any problems, hold inter guild competitions, lunches and outings

Our Guild has various groups to enhance our social and educational skills, viz. drama, reading, handicrafts. We have regular speakers on a variety of subjects, discussions/debates, quizzes, stalls selling handicrafts, plants, cakes and produce to raise money for local charities or for our own funds. We also have outings to the theatre and places of interest. We also have a lunch club.

Meeting twice a month in Lancashire to help promote educational and social activities for women.

The Greasby Afternoon Townswomen's Guild holds 2 meetings per month (August excepted), usually with a speaker. Additionally there is a leisure day when an outing is arranged with a possible visit to a museum or similar. Visits to a theatre are also arranged, plus a luncheon in August & at christmas. Funds are raised to support a chosen charity annually.
