The Federation holds Spring and Autumn Council meetings. Educational Courses for those interested in the subject, to attend. Monthly meetings are held in the 60 institutes throughout South Yorkshire with speakers or demonstrators on various and interesting subjects.

S.C.F.W.I have continued to offer opportunities for members to take advantage of many varied educational courses e.g. computer technology; food hygiene; bowls; photography etc. within Somerset.

Maintains three church buildings for regular use by the general public and various local bodies, eg. music festival, Dartmouth Orchestral Society, Dartmouth Community College Womens Institute. Also maintains a building used by Dartmouth pre-school, Dartmouth Brownies and Dartmouth Players (amateur dramatics).

Shardlow Village Hall serves as a hub for community activity, hosting a diverse range of events, meetings and activities. The venue offers a welcoming space for various local groups, such as fitness groups, playgroups, the WI, the local football club, and many more. It offers local residents of all ages a space to gather, socialise, and engage in a wide range of activities.
