HOLD MEETINGS WITH SPEAKERS ONCE A MONTH.FUND RAISING COFFEE MORNINGS OR THEMED ACTIVITIES TWO OR THREE TIMES A YEAR

We hold 11 meetings per month where members get together. Our purpose is fun friendship and education so we have speakers or do activities to promote these.

To provide a wider knowledge, understanding, education, and friendship among our members, with informative speakers and visits, with regular sociable meetings, within the influence of our National Federation of Women's Institutes

V Hall is used for private functions and on a regular basis: Keep Fit: Zumba:Yoga: Bowls: WI Meetings.

The Women's Institute advances the education of women and girls in important local and national political and social issues, music, drama and other cultural subjects, agriculture, crafts, home economics, science, health and social welfare, promotes sustainable development, advances health and advances citizenship by promoting civic responsibility and volunteering.

Promoting learning and personal development of women through eg lectures covering disciplines such as the arts, culture, health and social welfare, participation in groups with activities such as arts and crafts, walking. Encouraging members to take an interest in issues of national and local importance particularly relevant to the lives and welfare of women. Fundraising for local charities.

General Village activities including hiring and upkeep of the hall and park.Lettings for public and village use , such as weddings , birthdays and WI.Fund raisers for local charities.

Aims of the Women's Institute:Improve and develop the quality f life, particularly in rural areas, for women and their familiesAdvance the education of women in citizenship and in public issues, national and internationalEnable women to work togther to put into practice the ideals for which the organisation stands

The charity is:-a village hall for use of all villagers and run by a committee. We have club meetings for toddlers, children, youth, old folk and for the village in general. Regular functions; Pilates, dance classes, old peoples club, general village lunches, dances, parties, whist, W.I. and hire to the Parish Council for meetings and polling station, etc.

Indoor mat bowls, WI, merched y wawr, art classes, family & children group, meetings, dramas, concerts, choirs, polling station.

The WI plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities.

WE CARRY OUT MONTHLY MEETINGS TO INFORM OUR MEMBERS OF ACTIVITIES AVAILABLE TO THEM

The main purpose is to enable women to improve and develop their education, including the arts,crafts and sciences, advance their education in citizenship and other cultural subjects and in all branches of agriculture, home economics, health and social welfare and to improve and develop conditions of rural life.

WI ACTIVITIES

Administration of the charity premises & community hall, for the benefit of the local church and the communities activity groups which include the Art Group, Gardening Group, Bridge Club, Drama Club, W.I. & youth activities

The Trust is engaged in a project to restore and preserve Dulverton's medieval Weir and Leat (known as an Urban Watermill Landscape) working alongside its Partners who are :- Exmoor National Park Authority, Somerset County Council, West Somerset Council, Dulverton Town Council, Westcountry Rivers Trust and British Canoeing.

Providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities.

Offers women the opportunity of sharing friendships and learning

THE HALL IS A COMMUNITY CENTRE FOR THOSE WHO RESIDE IN THE THREE VILLAGES OF SUTTON,BARLAVINGTON AND BIGNOR. IT IS ALSO AVALIABLE FOR HIRE BY PEOPLE LIVING OUTSIDE THE AREA.THE HALL IS USED BY GROUPS SUCH AS THE W.I.,PARISH CHURCH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH COUNCIL FOR MEETINGS AND THE HALL'S COMMITTEE PUT ON VARIOUS SOCIAL ACTIVITIES FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE THREE VILLAGES.

We aim to give our members friendship and the chance to meet regularly and spend time together. We offer talks, demonstrations and outings to broaden their knowledge and outlook. We provide the opportunity to be part of the national and county WI community.Our hall is made available for hire to the local community.

Hold monthly meetings and fund raising events for women in the community, giving opportunities to hear a variety of speakers, support local charities and give members the chance to influence legislators and decision-makers about local, national and international issues which are of concern to WI members.

The charity maintains the local village the hall for the use of groups - WI (or similar) or individual persons wishing to hold a private party in the Higher Heath area for personal (party, social event etc.) or fund raising purposes.
