Religious, sports/recreation activities for children, young people, and adults by providing buildings/facilities and open space

The purpose of Scouting is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. It does this through an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training based on the Scout Promise and Law.

Religious activities

The Grasmere Reading Rooms, is a place where the parishers and boni fide guests have the right to socialise in the bar, play snooker, darts, etc, and the odd music nights, a place for the village to hold meetings.

We hold fundraising events to raise money for Askam Village School. Funds are allocated for items/events that will benefit all pupils of the school.

The hall is used for community functions, operating as a community hub with use by: Skelton village school, local youth, adult and senior groups, meetings, classes etc, as well as a polling station. Its activities include keep fit, theatre, dances, school, church and social gatherings and suppers and is available for private hire for social events. Open to all ages, abilities and ethnicities.

The purpose of the Goodly Dale Cottage Homes is "to provide accomodation for poor persons of good character each of whom shall not be less than 60 years of age (or 50 if disabled), and shall have been born or lived for 10 of the last 30 years in Windermere and Ambleside Urban Districts, Undermillbeck, Troutbeck and Applethwaite.

The Windermere Foodbank operates in the area from Grasmere in the north to Grange-over-Sands in the south, supporting the area not covered by the Barrow/Ulverston Foodbank on the west and the Kendal Foodbank on the east. In co-operation with such organisations as Cumbria C. C. Social Services and the C.A.B. we give emergency food to people in need. Periods of help have been increased in pandemic.

The Charity recruits, trains, maintains & equips a team of volunteers who are able to search for and rescue any persons or animals in distress primarily in the Lakeland & Cumbrian fells. The Team also will assist the emergency services in swift water rescue incidents, bad winter weather and urban and rural searches for lost or vunerable persons.

Cartmel Agricultural Society organises & operates an agricultural show open to the general public. The show acts as a link between rural communities, farmers and the public. It attracts many visitors who learn about rural life and farming systems.

To provide an effective rescue service for any human animal or boat in peril from the sea or Sands of Morecambe Bay and beyond as required. Also to provide services for search and sand rescue etc. To educate the public to the dangers of Morecambe Bay.

Ormside Mill is the perfect location for groups of young people and adults to undertake residential stays. AALA (Adventurous Activities Licencing Association) registered we offer a variety of adventurous activities, including outdoor pursuits, training, workshops, group work and environmental studies.Ormside Mill can accommodate self catered groups of up to 20 people & up to 20 campers.

Scouting exists to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.

We primarily offer art/leisure and support activities to children and young people in the Allerdale area. We are also actively involved in offering leisure, art, heritage and community activities to the local community through the additional groups using our building.

The charity is largely funded by donations and/or legacies received from patients, their relatives, and the general public and other organisations. The overall strategy of the Charity is to provide support via:Patients expenditure & Staff expenditure. Purchase of small items of equip and provision of services & facilities for patients. Purchase of staff education and to improve staff wellbeing.

The Charity was created to support primary health care and community health programmes in the Thane district of Mumbai, and elsewhere in India. The medical and community and faith based programmes are conducted through a registered Indian charity operating as the Bethany Trust.

To advance the education of children and young people by such means as the charity trustees think fit and, in particular but without limitation by; a) providing necessary facilities for the daily care, recreation and education of children during out of school hoursb) advancing education in the provision of such care, education and recreational facilities; c) enhancing community links.

The Trust benefits communities within North Yorkshire, Teesside and Cumbria. The aims are: to help educate & develop young people, particularly those with phyical, learning, & mental health problems; disadvantaged groups; the conservation & improvement of the natural environment; to address the challenges of rural communities and any other charitable purposes considered oppropriate at the time.
