Stainton Village Hall CIO was created to replace an ageing village hall with a new community services hub for the inhabitants of Stainton, near Penrith, for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances, as well as for the public generally.

Fund raising for the upkeep of the Institute - coffee mornings, lunch clubs, coffee with bingo nights, etc

To provide and maintain a village hall for use of the inhabitants of the parish of Bolton-Le-Sands and surrounding district, without distinction of political, religious or other opinions. Used for meetings, lectures and classes and for other forms of recreation and leisure time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants and hirers of the centre.

The village hall (The Browfoot Room) supports the local community by providing facilities for a diverse range of social, educational and sports functions.The hall is currently undergoing a major refurbishment programme to increase its effectiveness in the community even further.

The main activities include social evenings, monthly evenings with live music, seasonal indoor fairs, monthly meetings of the local Women's Institute, weekly practice and seasonal concerts by Cleator Moor Brass, weekly exercise classes and monthly meetings of the local Parish Council.The facilities are made available for the public benefit.

To work for the public benefit in creating environmental awareness and in stimulation and encouraging an understanding of and active involvement in the protection, conservation, and practical improvement of features of general and public amenity or historical interest within the landscape,and in doing so provides grants to assist in the process.

Social events - Dances, Film nights, Parties, Pantomimes/Drama.Lectures and meetings - Visiting lecturers, Local association talks and events.Group activities and clubs - Bridge club, Art group, Yoga, Pilates

The Mary Hannah Almshouses owns six almshouses properties, which are managed on its behalf by H&H land and Estates.

The charity offers grants and bursaries for educational purposes. These are either to educational institutions within the parish of Dent or to individuals under the age of 25 with a connection to the parish of Dent.

Art and Craft Table Tennis, twice a year Bouncy castle and Ball Pool, (Parents stay to this activity )

The youth club consists of around 30 young people age 10 - 16 who come each week to take part in many activities and general chat with helpers. Parents take turn in running it with leaders all voluntary. Adults come to play bowls & snooker the hall is available all the time for adult activities to meet friends.

The provision and maintenance of the village hall for the use of the residents of Skirwith and the wider community. To instigate, promote, manage and support social events, clubs and classes for the benefit of the community.

1,The relief of sickness and preservation and protection of good health in the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) area, trained by NWAS to respond locally in advance of a ambulance operating in our local area and with our trackiing system anywhere in the NWAS area.2,To advance the education of the public with training of first aid with basic life saving skills working with BHF Heartstart .

KCT IS BASED IN THE COMMUNITY, OPEN TO ALL WITH AN INTEREST IN EXPLORING A WIDE RANGE OF PERFORMING STYLES. IT IS A MADE UP OF PEOPLE WITH A BROAD RANGE OF EXPERIENCE, OR NONE! THERE NO ENTRY REQUIREMENTS, AUDITIONS OR TESTS.PEOPLE AT DISADVANTAGE BECAUSE OF EMPLOYMENT, HEALTH OR SOCIAL STATUS ARE WELCOME.WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHERS KCT DELIVERS AT LEAST ONE MAJOR PRODUCTION EACH YEAR.

Stapleton Public Hall was refurbished and extended in 2008 and bookings have increased. In 2023 we are currently fund raising and applying for grants to improve the hall's facilities. We are focusing on meeting the needs of our parishioners from a local survey to have monthly dances, sports and learning activities, events for families, a place to socialise, eat, drink and most important have fun!

The North East Trust for Aphasia supports people in the North East who have aphasia. Aphasia is a communication problem, often following stroke, which can affect an adult's ability to speak, read, write and understand other people. It can have devastating effects on peoples' lifes. NETA has set up a Support Centre for people with aphasia which offers support via communication and project groups.
