The Lecture Society provides a series of ten lectures from October through to March. The lectures have a wide variety of content and style. They provide interest and education to the biggest cross section possible in the Cumbria Lancashire area.

The hall is mainly for the people of Temple Sowerby but is open to all. It is there as a meeting place, for education and for entertainment.There is a large space upstairs for 100 people for lunches, dinners, dances, parties, shows etc .There are two rooms downstairs used for meetings and as a polling station. We have Wi-Fi throughout the building . The village school uses the hall often.

Our management team of trustees fund and operate our village hall on a non profit making, voluntary, basis, to provide a meeting place for our community. The hall provides a venue which is hired, on a part subsidised basis (from our fundraising), by a wide variety of groups providing safe and inclusive services to all ages and sectors of our local villages and the wider West Cumbrian community

THE OBJECTIVES OF THE PTA (A REGISTERED CHARITY) ARE TO ADVANCE THE CHILDREN'S EDUCATION JOINTLY WITH THE SCHOOL ; TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE SCHOOL; TO DEVELOP EFFECTIVE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN STAFF, PARENTS AND OTHERS ASSOCIATED WITH THE SCHOOL; AND TO ENGAGE IN ACTIVITIES OR PROVIDE FACILITIES OR EQUIPMENT WHICH SUPPORT THE SCHOOL.

Make grants to individuals or organisations to help children or young people under the age of nineteen in need, hardship or distress for the provision of holidays etc. or to help further their education.

In order to meet with the charity's objectives the Trustees will make grants towards wholly charitable purposes in England,Wales and Scotland with preference but not limited to the following areas. advancing education, advancing health, the arts, culture, heritage or science providing relief of those in need by reason of age, ill heath, financial hardship or other disadvantage

Fund-Raising

To treat injured hedgehogs and wherever possible release them back into the wild. To care for those hedgehogs that cannot be released.To educate both children and adults about hedgehogs and their environment.

Receive donations for the long term preservation of St. Oswalds Church in Grasmere.

The charity's objectives are to raise funds for the purchase, lease or acquisition in whatsoever manner of equipment for high dependency units at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and for research for the benefit of persons requiring specialised treatment in these units

Providing premises primarily for the use of local people, clubs and the primary school

The objects of the Society shall be to advance, improve, develop and maintain public education in, and appreciation of the art and science of choral music in all its aspects by the presentation of public choral concerts; and for the general purposes of such charitable bodies, or for such other purposes as shall be exclusively charitable, as the Committee may from time to time decide.

To provide facilities for village social events and a meeting place for village organisations.Also facilities for local and national elections.

We hold 5-7 fundraising activities each year at or around the school. These are winter and summer fairs, duck day, Easter bingo, carol singing at the local garden centre and sports day.

Friends of Lorton School Association provides volunteer and financial support to Lorton Primary School to enhance the education and personal development of the children.

The aims of the charity are:To advance the Education of the public, (particularly those under the age of 25,) on the dangers of violence and the serious consequences of these actions. To promote learning about individual responsibilities highlighting the consequences of anti-social and violent behaviour for victims and people who carry out violent acts.

Kaber Village Hall Trust is a Charity run by locals of Kaber and Heggerscale Parish undertaking many community social & fundraising events through out the year. These include village shows, coffee mornings with children's activities, domino drives,heritage day, BBQ's and seasonal events. The charity aims to use the village hall and its facilities to support & promote the local community.

M.A.S. is a local history society that presents a series of lectures, outings and an annual exhibitiion.It is also actively trying to establish a local museum/heritage centre based on The Society's own collection.

The provision of rescue boats and crews for any event on water, at sea or inland.Crews can be aged from 14.All assignment crews have RYA Powerboat certificates.
