Friends of Lorton School Association provides volunteer and financial support to Lorton Primary School to enhance the education and personal development of the children.

General Charitable purposes

Founded in 1945, we promote music making in the county of Westmorland & Furness. We run an annual musical festival in and around Kendal.

Primarily the charity runs an annual shoebox appeal, collecting and sending in the region of 10,000 gift filled shoeboxes to Romania. It also holds various fundraising events to fund the same, and administers a child sponsorship scheme which helps the children who receive the shoeboxes to access education.

Meetings and activities to educate and instruct

The trust's income is the rent from one residential property and a small amount of investment interest. The original deed suggests utilising half the income on property maintenance and specifies dividing the other half : 2/3rd for the people of Broughton-In-Furness and 1/3rd for educating local children. The trust now makes annual grants - 2/3rd local institutions and individuals, 1/3rd education.

Village community Hall

The objects of the Society shall be to advance, improve, develop and maintain public education in, and appreciation of the art and science of choral music in all its aspects by the presentation of public choral concerts; and for the general purposes of such charitable bodies, or for such other purposes as shall be exclusively charitable, as the Committee may from time to time decide.

To enable women to take an effective part in rural life and development.

To promote the improvement of the standard of riding and the advancement of road safety.

Organisation run by and for young people aged 10 to 26 years.

We organise fundraising events and activities to raise money for Orton C of E Primary School. The money raised goes towards funding trips out for the children and extra equipment needed in school.

The Crayton Charity manages a small village field.Bequeathed by a Mr Crayton (circa 1850) to ensure some education for the children of Nateby. Over many years, circumstances have altered regarding education and the amount of money provided by the legacy. However every Christmas surplus income from the letting of the field is distributed to the children.

We hold various fundraising events to support the school financially with extra opportunities for the children

Management and development of an outdoor centre called Milkhope Farmhouse, Kidland Forest, Alwinton, Northumberland. Organisation of educational visits for young people and community groups in the North East.

The purpose of a village hall for the use of inhabitants of the Parish of Hethersgill & neighbourhood, without distinction of sex, political, religious or other opinions, and in particular for the use of meetings, classes, lectures & other forms of recreation & leisuretime activities. Operates as Hethersgill Parish Hall and its management committee are trustees of the charity.

The purpose of the charity is:* To raise money to fund resources, visits and visitors to enhance the provision for all the children of Seascale School* Engage in activities which support the school and advance the experiences of the pupils attending it. * Develop relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school.
