Raising funds through school events

Manage Tansley Community Hall which is available to rent . The hall is for the benefit of local people and is to provide a space for all groups to use it for leisure, pleasure, entertainment, education, training and occasional commercial activity. To ensure that any village non-profit making group, particularly those who work with children, are able to use the hall at a reasonable rate.

PROVISION OF SOCIAL ACTIVITIES FOR THE VILLAGE

The Society promotes interest and research in all aspects of the history of Heanor and District, by holding regular meetings, publishing useful results of research, and acquiring and preserving items of historical interest to the area

Advancing the Christian religion by holding Services of Public Worship, Prayer Meetings and Bible Studies; running Sunday School and other youth groups; providing for the needs of elderly members and attenders; contributing to the work of Christian missionaries in the UK and abroad; and making Christian literature available through the Food for Thought bookshop in Clay Cross.

Various fundraising events held throughout the year. Money used to provide extra funds to purchase resources for the school which are not covered by statutory funding and to enhance the experience of the pupils of Swanwick Primary School with the provision of fun events to attend in and out of school.

Conservation - collection - education- research

Special Friends support families living in Belper and the neighbouring areas who have children with additional needs and disabilities. The whole family is supported through; Playgroup, Siblings support, Family Activities, Accessible activities for SEN children, Social events, Information Workshops and Parent/Carer Support.

Provide advice and information/sign posting for elderly people.Run Social afternoon under name of "Seniors Club" once monthly.Run, in conjuction with WRVS, a twice monthly Luncheon Club.Various Outings.Distribute Harvest ParcelsDistribute Christmas Parcels.Palm Sunday and Christmas Parties.Send Birthday and Christmas cards to all Clients registered.

Provision and maintainance of church and buildings and vicarage in Holmesfield.

The Society exists to carry out and promote research into the local history of Ilkeston and District, and for arranging meetings, events and publications for our members and for the general public.

We are a community garden. Volunteers grow vegetables, herbs,plants, also home made preserves for sale to the Community. We also provide recreational and educational facilities for community use e.g. Community fetes We also work with local educational projects for all ages and abilities, promoting healthy eating and lifestyle.

Provide help and support to people affected by cancer,particularly head and neck cancer.

TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF PUPILS IN THE SCHOOL IN PARTICULAR BY:DEVELOPING EFFECTIVE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE STAFF PARENTS AND OTHERS ASSOCIATED WITH THE SCHOOL;ENGAGING IN ACTIVITIES OR PROVIDING FACILITIES OR EQUIPMENT WHICH SUPPORT THE SCHOOL AND ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUPILS.

Activities throughout the academic year to raise money for extra curricular activities in school

Holding events for pupils and parents to raise money and to provide social activities.

Promote the Hereford cattle breed and pedigree breeding of the cattle. Organise workshops for new members to enhance their skills in exhibiting at agricultural shows, help and advice for members on the breeding and requirements for beef production etc. Providing sponsorship at agricultural shows with prize money and advertising members herds etc and providing breed information to general public.

Provision & promotion of good health & safety practice by training courses, monthly meetings, monthly newsletter, helpline & website. Links with ASE, EH depts of local authorities cooperation with IOSH.

Long Eaton & District Talking Newspaper for the Blind & Partially sighted has been operating since 1978 & has circa 150 clients from Eastwood - North; Castle Donington - South; Beeston - East; Borrowash - West and beyond via their website www.longeatontn.org.uk & ALEXA. An audio memory stick in posted out every three weeks with 20hours of content. A memory stick player is provided FOC if required.

We hold around 9 free public events a year:- Talks, recitals, visits to see, hear, study & play (mostly church) organs locally, one visit to a distant major venue (fare charged). We work with schools to interest children in organs/music. We recruit members to support our work, we're affiliated to the national body, the I.A.O., which runs U.K. events & offers bursaries (www.iao.org.uk).
