The Charity was established in 1904 and was used to provide children's 'Johnson Tea' - an annual event at Payne's Cafe Royale until the mid 1960's. After being dormant for some years, the Town Council arranged with the Charity Commissioners for a new scheme to regulate the Trust. It is now used to relieve hardship amongst local school children up to the age of 13, under certain conditions.

To administer Aberporth Village Hall and the lands it owns for the benefit of the local population

The trustees shall apply the income of the trust fund for the general promotion of the principles of abstinence from intoxicating drinks and for such other religious purposes and in such manner as the society may from time to time direct.

The interest from the capital invested is distributed annually in December to senior citizens in the parish who apply and to one special needs person.

The Charity is a community based agency which exists to provide specialist confidential help and support to drug and alcohol users in Wales:- To help them live healthier lives;- To minimise physical, psychological, social and legal problems related to drug and alcohol use

The activities of DACW (Drug and Alcohol Charities Wales) are to promote good health in Wales through advocating good practice amongst its members and promoting the rights of individuals with substance misuse issues. The charity tenders for pan-Wales opportunities and will undertake research and promote innovation on behalf of its members.
