The Lizard Charity manages The Lizard Pastures as a piece of informal, natural countryside for the general benefit and enjoyment of the people of Wymondham.

We are an autonomous self-help learning organisation run by the voluntary efforts of our members. Our members come together to share and pursue learning and related social activies, and are in their third age, the period in life when, after childhood, full-time employment and parental responsibilities, time can be found for personal interests and creativity.

Scouts are do-ers and give-it-a-go-ers. Yes, we go camping, hiking, abseiling, cycling and canoeing while having fun. We meet weekly, catering for youngsters aged 6 to 18 supporting them with skills they need for school, college, university, the job interview, the important speech, the tricky challenge and the big dreams: the skills they need for life.

Silsoe Young Farmers is a youth group run by the members for the members to advance their education in argiculture, home crafts, country life and related subjects. Joining in with local village activities to become an active part of the community. Improving mental capacities, self-reliance and individual responsibilities.

A variety of community activities including parish council meetings, local societies - amenity, bridge, history for example - leisure classes (pilates, line dancing) toddlers' group, art exhibitions, drama productions and private parties.

Provision of a Village Hall with kitchen and toilet facilities. The hall has a stage and a store room. It is used for a wide variety of community activities including coffee mornings, craft classes, parish council, dog training, informal indoor sports, toddlers group, village markets, village festival. Also private hire functions, such as weddings, parties, meetings, study and school groups.

The object of the Society is to organise concerted action for the improvement, protection and preservation of rural scenery or features of local interest in the town and villages within the Haslemere area.

Support village community activities financially as required, maintain village open space to be enjoyed by all inhabitants of the village, maintain accomodation for two retired persons.

Volunteers provide transport for the elderly frail to hospitals, surgeries and clinics. They also undertake shopping, befriending and the occasional odd job. A weekly escorted shopping by minibus provides social contact and enables elderly people to shop independently with help. Ipad familiarization sessions are also offered

The object of the Society shall be for the benefit of the public to promote and improve agriculture.Hold an Annual Ploughing Match together with Sheep Dog Trials & Produce Tent to further rural activities in the countryside.

To maintain in working condition an old windmill at woodchurch for the benefit of the community and visitors. It is also a valuable educational facility inso far as many groups of youngsters visit the windmill to learn about traditional rural industries and the importance of environmental issues.

Voluntary organisation run by trained volunteers, young people follow a balanced programme of exciting activities in a safe and friendly environment. The Trust will be helping people in disadvantaged areas to set up and sustain their own enterprises by working for themselves, with particular geographic emphasis on Cornwall. The Norda Trust wishes to fund projects that aid people to overcome barriers to self-employment, to foster economic independence, and to collaborate, prosper and expand.

Hiring of Village Hall for various community activities such as Dancing Class, Dog Club, Wine & Beer Circle, Parties, Church Activities. The Hall is usually hired by the local villagers and the people in the surrounding areas.

Protection of Rural England

In our own small way Caterham Overseas Aid Trust are committed to help the two thirds of the desperately poor people in Third World countries help themselves. By way of recognised NGOs working on the ground, such as Self Help Africa and Practical Action and other small charities, we finance projects which will enable local self-help and development of individuals. We give NO aid handouts.

Community development

Working in Nepal to advance education, relieve poverty, preserve and protect the health of poor communities, conserve, protect and restore the natural resources, beauty, plant and animal life through rural community development and conservation projects, work with local organisations to promote disability rights issues and to enable disabled children to achieve their potential.

Phillimore Park is a local park. Since 2004, the Darnall Green Spaces Regeneration Project has been working to engage the community in the regeneration of the park. A master plan for the park was completed in 2005 and in April 2010 two large sections were completed. These were a games area for young people and a play area for 8-13s.
