Environment Charities That specialise in Recycling

Formed in 1998 through Agenda 21 to encourage allotment use in Harrow we are now a federation of 17 horticultural and local groups. Our plant sales, quiz suppers, BBQ and Horticultural Show during the year raise funds which have provided disabled toilets, recycling bays and secure storages on allotment sites. The objects of the CIO are:To promote for the public benefit in Tenterden (Kent) and the surrounding area the conservation, protection and improvement of the environment and the prudent use of natural resources by reducing carbon emissions and other sources of pollution and promoting recycling, in particular by means of the following:a) The provision and support of community resource sharing,

Combeposters runs a green waste recycling scheme in Combe Martin, North Devon. We collect green garden waste from local residents and produce compost and related products. The products are distributed back into the local community. We recruit and train volunteers to operate the scheme. We use income generated by the scheme to fund local community groups.

We provide free recycled sports shoes, which we collect through donations from the community, to enable participation in sports and activities. We promote the benefits of recycling and reusing sports shoes. We raise awareness of the beneficial effect that participation in sports and exercise has on both mental and physical health. We currently operate in Herts and Beds.

TO ENCOURAGE & PROVIDE RECYCLING OPPORTUNITIES TO THE PUBLIC, BUSINESSES, STATUTORY AUTHORITIES & EDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENTS.RELIEVE THOSE IN NEED, BY REASON OF YOUTH, AGE, ILL-HEALTH, DISABILITY, FINANCIAL OR OTHER DISADVANTAGE IN PARTICULAR BY THE PROVISION OF GRANTS OR DONATION OF ITEMS TO INDIVIDUALS OR TO CHARITABLE ORG. SUPPORTING THOSE IN NEED.

We organise local sustainability events at community centres or other locations within Telford and Wrekin. We organise 'swaps' where the public can bring items to swap or can take items for a pay as you can donation, have an eco library, offer recycling facilities via Telford Terracycle. We invite other eco organisations and individuals to attend our events to share information/activities.

New Leaf Alresford offers local information and advice, to help the community to adopt the positive changes needed to tackle climate change, promote sustainability and protect our environment. We provide information through the New Leaf Website: www.newleafalresford.org and Facebook group. We volunteer locally on projects which tackle climate change, increase recycling and boost biodiversity.

Raising money towards equipment and services for the children of South Wootton Infant School by means of fundraising events such as disco's, quiz nights, Summer and Christmas Fair's including sale of the children's art and craft work and commission based recycling.

Hatcham Temple Grove Parent Teacher Association organise fundraising events that help to provide additional equipment and resources for all the children who attend the primary school.Typical activities include Cake Sales (every 1/2 term), Clothes Aid (recycling clothing collection), Discos, Christmas Events, Christmas cards, Used uniform Sale, Easter raffle & Summer Fair.

We work with community-based organisations mainly in the slums of developing cities, where we empower them through social enterprising means by working with them to establish innovative projects especially in areas of sustainable waste management (recycling and re-use) and renewable energy technologies.Currently we work in Kenya and Peterborough, UK

The Root provides practical support to a local community. It provides a range of activities including football tournaments, lunchtime clubs for older people, food hampers and a range of workshops for young people. We encourage communities in the UK to recycle and give a range of items that are regularly sent out in barrels to Kenya to benefit the community.

The Telford Repair Cafe operates regular repair events across Telford and Wrekin to meet our objectives to protect and safeguard the environment for the public benefit through the promotion of repair and re-use of products as a means of preventing and minimising waste.

To provide relief to any person in fuel poverty through the provision of free or reduced cost domestic fuel and the promotion of efficient and sustainable fuel usage. The advancement of environmental protection through the promotion and provision of recycling, conservation of water and sustainable waste management to the general public. To provide information and training on the above.

TO PROVIDE A LOCAL LIBARY WITH I.T FACILITIES. THE HUB WAS SET UP AFTER THE REMOVAL OF THE LOCAL LIBRARY. THE FREE I.T FACILITIES ARE USED BY JOB SEEKERS TO SIGN ON AND SEEK EMPLOYMENT.HELPING ORGANISATIONS ARE OFFERED A FREE OUT REACH FACILITY TO SEE CLIENTS. RESIDENTS CAN GET RECYCLING BAGS AND LOCAL INFORMATION, SUCH AS COMMUNITY COUNTY COUNCIL MINUTES. WE HELP TO DEVELOP NEW COMMUNITY GROUPS.

As well as providing grants to deserving causes within our community and the Lions District and Multiple District the Lions Club of Leek undertake a number of community service projects :-Christmas lunch for members of the Leek Stroke Club, Spectacle Recycling. Message in a Bottle, Message in a Wallet, In Case of Emergency Labels and Santa Duties
