The key roles of the society involve monitoring, recording and protecting the avifauna of Derbyshire as well as working with other organisations towards protecting birds (and other wildlife) and the habitats that they require.

The Trust is responsible for the management of the open space playing area on Cabrera avenue and 52 acres of land next to the River Bourne known as Riverside walk.The trust requires that Riverside walk is maintained for the exercise, recreation and benefit of the inhabitants of Virginia water and the neighbourhood, and the open space on cabrera avenue is to be used as a public recreation ground

Assistance for disability, hardship and nature conservation causes.

The Charity is responsible for managing and maintaining a large parkland in Painters Forstal, nr Faversham in Kent for public enjoyment. The trust undertakes, tree planting, scrub clearance, interpretation, path creation with the object of improving the biodiversity of the area.

Organsiation of fund raising activities for children and their parents/carers. Events include Summer Fun day, school discos, Christmas bazaar and Easter events. Evening activies include quiz nights, bingo nights and games evenings. We also raise funds by recycling clothes.

The conservation and enhancement of the beauty and character of Mendip and the surrounding area with particular regard to landscape, wildlife habitat, archaeological, historical and natural features.

The Mendip Nature Research Committee, is a self-governing body. Its objectives are to advance education by the study and research of the flora, fauna, geology, archaeology, speleology and allied sciences principally on Mendip, and to pursue other activities outside the scientific sphere, as may be determined and promoted by the MNRC.

1. Promotion of the study of all branches of natural history and all matters relating to the conservation of flora, fauna, habitats and geological features in Hertfordshire. In particular to record and monitor the occurrence,distribution and status all forms of wildlife and how this changes over time and to publish the results.2. Reviewing planning applications and making recommendations to the Borough of Barnet. Monitoring the local environment - trees, plants, open spaces, wildlife against damage and encroachment. The threat of, and response to, the possibility of dangerous/catastrophic climate change provides the most important current focus for the purpose of the Trust, as it will ultimately be the response of humankind to those perceived future threats and opportunities which will govern society's ability to survive. Aims are the study and recording of the flora and fauna of Kent, promotion of nature conservation, and provision of a means of communication between naturalists in the county. This is carried out through programmes of outdoor and indoor meetings; publication of documents; appointment of recorders to act as referees for particular taxa; and support for appropriate activities by outside bodies.
