Membership is open to all.

Horder Healthcare operates a hospital for patients requiring orthopaedic surgery and musculoskeletal services which is supported by a number of outreach centres in the South East. It owns and operates a second hospital, also in the South East, which delivers maxillofacial, plastic reconstruction surgery and ophthalmology.

The College is involved in a wide range of activities that influence and support the professional development of surgeons and the delivery of surgical services. These activities include monitoring the progress of trainees; running examinations for trainees; running courses for surgeons throughout their career; and awarding research fellowships.

The activities of the Company include the promotion of education and research in the field of implant and refractive surgery and the study and practice of ophthalmology and research. It also promotes experimental work in the field of intraocular lens implantation and refractive surgery.

UK-Med provides emergency medical care in the aftermath of large and sudden-onset disasters. UK-Med also works with colleagues in disaster-prone countries to increase their medical and surgical skills and knowledge, developing capacity to respond to disasters in their own country and region.

Operation Smile is an international volunteer based medical services charity providing free reconstructive surgery and aftercare to children and young adults around the world, primarily for cleft lips and/or palates. In the UK, we raise funds to treat facial deformities, recruit and supply medical volunteers, help train local medical teams/build infrastructure & public raise awareness.

The College creates and maintains standards in ophthalmic training and practice, organises examinations and sets the curriculum. The Charity runs a convalescent home in Rustington near Littlehampton to provide long or short term convalescent care for men or women who are recovering from sickness or surgery and to provide respite care for those in need.

The David Nott Foundation provides surgeons and medical professionals with the skills they need to provide relief and assistance in conflict and natural disaster zones around the world. As well as providing the best medical care, David Nott Foundation surgeons train local healthcare professionals; leaving a legacy of education and better health outcomes.

The charity continues to take in animals whose owners can no longer look after them. These animals, where possible, are found homes and those with behaviour problems or needing medical care are given sanctuary for the rest of their lives if needed. Two veterinary clinics in fixed premises, and one in a mobile surgery, are being run to enable those people on low income to have their pets treated.

The Association's principal activity is the dissemination of information as it relates to the specialty of plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.
