wOMENS INSTITUTE

The W.I. offers opportunities for all women to enjoy friendship, to learn, to widen their horizons and together to influence local, national and international affairs.

Activities agreed by the National Federation of Womens Institutes.

We meet monthly for the purpose of fellowship and have educational speakers. We support our village fetes with baking cakes and arrange outings to look at buildings, stately homes, museums and Federation activities.

We enjoy social and educational meetings and offer friendship to any women in the villages, particularly those new to the area. We provide a visible presence, helping in the local community and also operating a small walking group open to any local women. We fundraise for local charities and take responsibility for making the villages more visually attractive by planting tubs + containers.

Provide facilities for local groups to hold meetings, fund raising activities etc. The hall is used bythe local WI; youth organisation and used by the local school & nursry. Snooker club

Our organisation endeavours to offer opportunities to the women of the parish and surrounding area, for them to learn and develop new skills and widen their horizons. We also seek to influence local and national affairs.

Monthly meetings are held for members and visitors. Generally a speaker addresses the group on a topic relevant to the interest areas indicated. An informal discussion group meets regularly, as do other interest groups and visits are frequently organised.
