Associations Charities

The Friends of the Harris exists to support the work of the Harris Museum, Art Gallery & Library through fundraising. In recent years we have funded a range of projects, including purchases, conservation, exhibitions, community-focussed work and a capital development.

We maintain links of friendship and understanding between Christians in Britain and Ireland and in the People's Republic of China, through exchange visits, study tours, conferences, educational materials and activities, a newsletter, and grants to charitable work in China.

St Breward Guides and Brownies are the units in the village of St Breward and offer activities for all girls from the age of seven years upwards. Currently there are 18 Brownies 13 Guides 2 Young leaders (those 14 - 18 who are working towards a leadership quliafication) and 6 adults. Activites range from craft, public service and health to outdoor activities such as walking, swimming and camping.

Scouting related activities for Boys and Girls of age groups: Beavers: 6 - 8 years Cubs: 8 - 10 years Scouts: 10 - 14 years

Undertake activities to enable women interested in issues associated with rural life, to improve their education in citizenship, public questions, music, culture, handicrafts, home economics, health and social welfare and to improve rural life.

Funds for church projects are raised by volunteers providing refreshments in the church hall - usually on Sunday afternoons during the summer. Second hand books and bric/brac are also sold.

Lechlade Women's Institute is part of the Gloucestershire Federation of Women's Institutes. We provide women with educational opportunities, take part in a wide variety of activities and campaign on issues that matter to us and to our community

The charity holds various events for the parents, children and friends of Breachwood Green School to raise money to purchase things that do not fall with in the remit of the local authority funding.

Fundraising for our local primary school, including fetes, raffles, family nights, etc.

Social activities, outings, sport, youth and artistic activities and support for handicapped young people.

Raise funds by organising fairs, quiz nights etc., all monies raised at such events is either donated to the school or pays for school trips and extra school activities for the children.

The relief of poverty and distress either by direct payments to individuals in necessitous circumstances or by contributions to approved charitable organisations or funds already existing for this purpose as approved by the Trustees.The advancement of education by contributions to such educational organisations or funds for the advancement of educational facilities as approved by the Trustees.

We provide a venue in the village as a gathering / meeting place for many of our areas organizations, societies and clubs. (Most notably the Cricket, Horticulture, WI, Classic Motor Cycle, Model, Youth Clubs, Mother & Toddler Group, plus Community Social Club). The Social Club provides a popular venue for family celebration / anniversaries, a compact as well as large social centre for our village.

To raise funds and awareness for Charities in Great Britain and Ireland and OverseasWe are a group of 20clubs in Kent and East Sussex.

General fundraising activities such as quiz night, fashion show, refreshments at parents' evenings and auction of promises.

Education & Training for Women. Helping the local community and supporting local activities

The objects of the Shevington and District Community Association are:1. To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Shevington . . .to advance education and provide facilities . . . for recreation and leisure time occupation . . . improving the conditions of life especially for the lonely and isolated in our community

To educate and promote interest in astronomy and allied subjects, through scout groups, schools and other groups such as round tables women's institute etc. and to provide a meeting place lecture room and equipment for the use of both members and general public.

Fundraising activities for the children of Crowcombe and Stogumber Schools.

We organise a range of events to raise money to benefit all the children at the school. Events we have planned are Easter Bingo, Discos, Summer and Christmas Fayres.

A village hall available to the community and wider area for meetings, family gatherings, parties, parish council meetings. It also offers support to other local organisations and is home to a variety of regular social activities
