The charity established to enhance the community life of the inhabitants of East Bergholt. It is used regularly by local clubs and societies and hired by individuals for weddings, family gatherings and similar activities.

The 3rd Waltham Abbey Scout Group consist of one explorer unit (controlled by the district), two scout troops, two scout parks and two beaver colonies. The hall is also hired out to 1 girl guide section, 3 brownies sections and 1 rainbow section.

The charity's income is two thirds of the nett income of Yardleys Charity Town Estate (Estate Trustees) which is used for funding assistance and improvement of facilities for organisations working for the benefit of the town and people of Thaxted.

The Charity is currently raising money to support the extensive maintenance works in the Holy Docheiariou Monastery in Mount Athos, Greece. Occasionally it supports renovations in the Christian Orthodox Monastery of Saint John the Baptist in Essex.

The provision and maintenance of Almshouse accommodation.

The charity performs publicly under the name "MEN2SING" and undertakes to maintian male choral singing. "MEN2SING" supports local charities by the production of concerts.

The band plays many concerts to the public in our community throughout the year. We also perform some charity concerts, raising money for organizations such as the RNLI, Colchester and Ipswich Hospital Charity and The Royal British Legion. We compete at National Level at the Regional Area Championships and National Finals Brass Band Championships.
