Heritage Charities

We are concerned with the preservation, development and restoration of the Dean Forest Railway, together with the education of the public in the history of the railways in the Forest of Dean, and education in skills pertinent to the maintenance and operation of a heritage railway. We raise funds, recruit volunteers and undertake projects for the railway's development.

Grants made to a number of churches on the Romney Marsh for the work of repairs, maintenance and restoration of the fabric and curtilage and for the undertaking of physical improvements, alterations and additions of the said churches including the installation of basic facilities.

A fund for the repair and maintenance of the parish church at Hornsea.

Supporting scientific research into rheumatological conditions, taking various forms including laboratory-based investigation of the basic mechanisms underlying diseases of the musculoskeletal system, clinical research to investigate the features and natural history of these disorders, and to improve their management and therapy, mainly in the context of randomised clinical trials.

Preserve a unique collection of lifeboats, fishing boats and displays of local history.The museum has received significant financial support from the Heritage Lottery Fund so that all the artefacts can be moved to a new museum on the seafront.

The museum commemorates the poet William Cowper, who lived in the house from 1768 to 1786, and his friend the preacher, hymnwriter and slave trade abolitionist John Newton (author of 'Amazing Grace'). It holds an important collection of lace and items relating to the archaeology and history of Olney and its surrounding villages. The historic gardens include Cowper's original summer house/study.

The objects of the charity are to stimulate the appreciation of, demand for and production of well designed objects by commissioning, exhibiting and making available for sale such art and craft objects.

To encourage the study and advance the knowledge of the history of English law, mainly by researching and publishing the original source-materials of the law, legal institutions and legal profession.

The Newbury Historical Study Association is dedicated to the promotion of education in military history. It aims to organise educational events on military history subjects involving talks by individuals who are recognised as experts in the subject-matter, and by post-graduates who have carried out academic research in a range of different subjects relating to military history.

The promotion of community participation in healthy recreation, in particular by the provision of facilities for the playing of Real Tennis in the Midlands of England.To conserve,preserve and improve for the public benefit as a building of historic interest the Real Tennis Court at Moreton Morrell, Warwickshire CV35 9AL , and to educate the public about the history and heritage of the building.

The C37LG exists to restore, maintain, preserve and operate for the public benefit a diesel locomotive of historical importance and interest. The Group owns locomotive 37003, which is currently based on the Mid-Norfolk Railway. We have restored our locomotive to full working order, and it is regularly both on public display and in use on public train services on this heritage railway.

We also promote the provision of information, advice and support that celebrate LGBT lives and history.

The Friends of St Laurence, Lurgashall is a charity which provides grants to the Parochial Church Council of St Laurence's Church for the upkeep and maintenance of the church building and churchyard. Lurgashall is in the Diocese of Chichester in West Sussex. The church building is over 1,000 years old and support from the Friends is most welcome.
