We record, onto CDs or memory sticks, audio versions of our local newspaper The Gazette and other local interest recordings and distribute them in the surrounding district to blind or partially sighted listeners and those whose incapacity makes reading a strain. We also produce quarterly magazine recordings and are starting to produce local audio history recordings too. Run by volunteers

To support the work of the Essex Record Office. The promotion of the education of the public in the history of the County of Essex as constituted in 1954, including those London Boroughs which were formerly within Essex. To publish or assist in the publication of material relating to the history of Essex.

Education/Training. The museum is established to show how the Essex Police developed from its inception since 1840 until the present time. This is provided by access to the collection by the public when the museum is open and also by special arrangement. Education via the school curriculum.

Managing all aspects of running and maintaining Spelsbury Memorial Hall and Fountain including raising funds for their upkeep. Managing these premises for the benefit of the residents of Spelsbury Parish, covering Dean, Ditchley, Spelsbury and Taston.

Transcription and publication of original documents relating to the history of the counties of Lancashire and Cheshire

As the registered amenity society for Moseley, we have a membership of local people. We monitor planning and licensing applications; have an active local history group; organise a programme of meetings and activities; publish information about the area; we have restored three listed buildings in the area and open them to the public free of charge and we have created an 18th century style garden.

The society has been excavating a Roman villa in Northamptonshire for the past 38 years. It publishes on a regular basis. It also owns & manages a museum, interpreting & displaying the results of excavation & runs a museum education service.

The society organises a programme of lectures, field trips and fieldwork. It publishes Durham Archaeological Journal and a series of research reports, and promotes the protection and appreciation of the historic environment.
