Heritage Charities

The Maeldune Trust exists to advance the education of the public in the history and heritage of the Town of Maldon, Essex.

The LOHP is a voluntary, community project dedicated to the restoration of the important wildlife and landscape of the fens and heaths of the upper Little Ouse Valley. Although biodiversity conservation is at the heart of our work, we aim to achieve this in a way that both engages and benefits the local community.

Manhood Wildlife and Heritage care for various habitats across the Manhood Peninsula where wildlife can flourish. Some sites are home to rare species, others form a network of rich and diverse habitats, which are managed by local volunteers. Our activities include active environmental conservation projects, local history research, guided walks, publications, photography and newsletters.

Croydon U3A provides opportunities for participation in over 65 member-led groups including languages, chess, rambling, history, Scrabble, poetry - to name but a few. There is a lively outings and holidays programme and a monthly general meeting to which an outside speaker is invited. Members can attend summer schools run by the U3A national office, and study days organised by other local groups.

theMOVEMENT exists to restore every woman's right to exercise through partnering with different charities to provide access to exercise for women with multiple disadvantages. We currently operate in London.

The charity objectives are to advance the education of the public in the history and development of railways and locomotion by the preservation of diesel locomotives, rolling stock and other equipment and items.

The promotion of community participation in healthy recreation and in particular by the promotion of Historical European Martial Arts by providing training, scholarships, competitions and tournaments and in other such ways as the trustees think appropriate.

Run Hastings Fishermen's Museum and Hastings History House, both of which offer archive material, organise walks and talks, events in Old Town and Hastings Weeks, follow planning issues and make representations where appropriate, maintain building databases and supply information as and when required.

The Charity seeks to relieve poverty by making payments twice a year to elderly people on low income living in the historical parish of Camberwell (which includes Dulwich and Peckham).

To provide grants and financial assistance for educational purposes to young people, within the Dunstable area, whose parents are in sympathy with the aims of the Church of England and other Christian churches. It is also responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of Chews House and the Old Library (now The Little Theatre).

SWHEA WAS FORMED BY THREE PARTNERS: THE SALT FOUNDATION, SHIPLEY COLLEGE AND SALTAIRE UNITED REFORMED CHURCH. ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: MANAGEMENT OF THE SALTAIRE COLLECTION OF HISTORICAL ITEMS (to National Standards) AND THE DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT AND DELIVERY OF LEARNING RESOURCES BASED ON SALTAIRE'S INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE TO SUPPORT EDUCATION FOR LEARNERS OF ALL AGES.

Presenting and interpreting the heritage of Congleton and surrounding area through its collections to residents and visitors by permanent and temporary exhibitions; delivering effective educational and research opportunities for all ages and abilities; collecting and conserving objects associated primarily with the history of the area to support the Museum's educational and learning activities.

Four free informal English classes each week at various venues. Outreach advice sessions in collaboration with local service providers. Women-only swimming club. Free yoga classes. Free healthy cooking demonstrations. Regular Languages Celebration Parties. Educational trips. Art club in collaboration with local art gallery.

The provision of financial assistance for the repair, upkeep and maintenance of the Parish Church of Quatt in the county of Shropshire together with the graveyard and the preservation, protection, improvement and upkeep of the mansion house at Dudmaston and the pleasure grounds, park, lands and appurtenances and chattels.

The maintenance of a public museum for the exhibition of historical and other exhibits relating to Seaford. its environs and its inhabitants. The organising of meetings relating to the history of Seaford. The study and maintenance of documentary information relating to Seaford so as to provide a local archive for research.

The society serves those interested in the history and technique of British Theatre by arranging public lectures, by publishing books and a thrice-yearly journal ('Theatre Notebook') and by awarding research grants to individuals and institutions. It awards an annual theatre book prize and stages the Poel Event, an annual workshop promoting good stage speech, most recently at the National Theatre.

The Charity administers and manages the recreational facilities for the benefit of the local community and other members of the general public. The amenities include the recreation ground, children's playground, memorial gardens, three tennis courts with a clubhouse, the Parish Pavilion, a Scouts hut and a Sports Pavilion.

AN ALMSHOUSE CHARITY FOUNDED IN THE 17TH CENTURY BY CALEB LOVEJOY, A WEALTHY MERCHANT. THE PRINCIPAL OBJECT OF THE CHARITY IS TO PROVIDE ACCOMMODATION FOR FOUR PERSONS OF GOOD CHARACTER, AND IN NEED. THE CHARITY OWNS AND MANAGES FOUR GRADE II LISTED COTTAGES IN GUILDFORD.

The objects of the society shall be the encouragement of army historical research, and the promotion and maintenance of regimental and military traditions including:- a) Research, (b) Quarterly Publication of a Journal contaning original articles, military manuscripts and other material, advice and encouragement to those interested including students, and a lecture programme

The Foundation provides support for post-graduate education and research and the dissemination of such research to the public, particularly in the fields of European intellectual thought and history, broadly conceived. The Foundation supports researchers with projects of international quality as verified by peer review which might otherwise fail to find financial support.
