The Scout Association provides adventurous activities and personal development opportunities for 400,000 young people aged 6-25.In Scouting, we believe that young people develop most when they are 'learning by doing,' when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves.

Barlaston Scout Group provides adventurous activities and personal development opportunities for young people, facilitates weekly meetings promoting the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being of the individual; to help achieve their full potential through 'learning by doing,' taking responsibility, working in teams, taking acceptable risks and thinking for themselves.

The Aim of the Scouts Association is to provide an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training, based on the Scout Promise and Law, and guided by adult leadership. Througth a range of activties and events to allow young people the oportunity to express themselves, learn and develop as individuals and as responsible citizens and members of the community.

To support and assist the Scout Groups and Explorer Scout Units of the District in achieving the purpose of the Scout Association by employing the method of the Scout Association.

Sea Cadet Unit serving City of Derby. Providing marine training for 10 - 18 year olds.The Sea Cadets offers young people amazing opportunities for personal development by learning new skills and working in teams. We offer an environment where young people find new confidence and inspiration.Our biggest supporter is the Royal Navy. Our aim is to inspire young people through nautical adventure.

We are part of the national womens institute movement.

The WI's activities benefit the public by advancing the education and citizenship of women and enabling them to work together in their communities to put into practice the ideals for which the Women's Institute stands.

Develop more extended relationships between staff, parents and others associated with Markland Hill Primary School ("School"); engage in activities which support School and advance the education of the pupils attending it and to provide and assist in the provision of facilities or items for education at School which are not otherwise provided.
