GirlGuiding is the UKs leading charity for girls and young women. This local chapter of the charity supports Girlguiding units in Lancaster, Garstang and surrounding Lancashire villages. The Division jointly owns, with Morecambe Division (Reg Charity No 1025226), Silver Sapling campsite, Silverdale as a camping and outdoor activity facility available to local units and those in the wider area.

Provision of facilities at Speen Scout Hut

Fund raising events including fetes, bazaars, sale of school tea towels etc. to rasie funds to buy equipment or other items for the school.

Provides grants and help by way of advice or practical assistance to deserving causes both in the local area and overseas consistent with the ideals of Rotary and motto of service above self.

Scouting

As for all Women's Institutes - To improve & develop conditions of rural life in accordance with the constitution and rules of the Women's Institute.

To advance the education of the pupils in the school, by providing after school activities and helping to maintain the upkeep of the school.

Monthly meetings with speakers. Lunch, mahjong. Bursary to one or two members per year for further education. Outings to theatres, places of interest.

Woolston and District Women's Institute member of the National W.I. and Cheshire W.I. education for women.

PROVISION OF FUNDING FOR CHARITIES AND CHARITABLE CAUSES WITHIN THE AREA OF BENEFIT

To educate by inviting guest speakers to our meetings and by arranging visits to places of interest.

The charity's main objecitve is the instruction of girls of all classes in the principals of discipline,loyalty and good citizenship.

We raise money solely for the school. We hold summer and christmas fairs, organise raffles throughout the year and normally one sponsored event a year.

The charity exists to relieve patients and former patients of the hospital and generally to support its charitable work. This is done by volunteers, who raise funds by means of subscriptions, a summer fete, etc, and who attend the hospital to support in any manner that they are able. Funds raised are spent, after consideration by the committee, on the extra needs of the hospital that the PCT do no

Llawhaden YFC & Community Hall is a village hall in the small rural village of Llawhaden located just off the A40. The hall is available for hire for private functions e.g. funeral teas and parties but also provides a meeting place for many activities in the area. Groups that meet here are Young Farmers (youth activity group), the Womens Institute, the Community Council and Zumba fitness group.

The Friends of Strathmore School (FOSS) works to help the special needs pupils, many severely disabled, at The Strathmore School in Petersham.FOSS raises funds to help fund education ressources , hold social events and assists the staff to enrich the children's quality education and leisure.FOSS also has the role of a Parent/Teacher Association.
