The main purposes of the Women's Institute organisation are to enable women interested in issues associated with rural life, including arts, crafts & sciences, to improve & develop conditions of rural life, to advance their education in citizenship, in public questions both national & international, in music, drama & other cultural subjects, in agriculture, handicrafts, home economics, health.

Giving to Masonic and Non-Masonic charities

Organise events and activities to raise money for Carr Infant and Junior schools to purchase equipment for use by the children of the schools.

Various sports, crafts, drama, workshops, educational visits and other activities as requested by members.

To create and foster a spirit of understanding To take an active interest in the civic cultural social and moral welfare of the communityTo encourage service minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce industry professions public works and private endeavours

We provide community activities and accomodation for local groups. Our activities include: themed charity suppers, fayres and produce shows. The hall is also made available for local groups such as Cafe Mornings, Amateur dramatics, art groups as well as for private parties.

We are part of the National Federation of Women's Institutes. We offer members the opportunity to enjoy friendship within their local community, develop their skills and talents through lifelong learning,improve the quality of life in the community.

WI is an Educational & Training Charity benefiting those in the local and surrounding areas.

Donations, and gift of time, to a variety of charitable causes, mostly of a local nature but sometimes nationally or even internationally although these latter are often in association with other Rotary Clubs.
