Health Charities

An Association of Deaf and Hearing People who support each other and promote services for Deaf People within the community. The CDA recognises the rights and needs of Deaf people. We believe and acknowledge that Deaf People are a cultural and linguistic (Sign Language users) minority group.

We give grants to individuals raising money for charity, especially those who are giving their own time and effort.We also give directly to other charities.Our priorities are Cancer, Alzheimers, Great Ormond St, National Trust and other medical, jewish, educational, community and childrens' charities in the UK.

Provides medical and other equipment and materials for the benefit of the patients of the Rotherfield and Brook Surgeries.

Grant making for the public benefit, mainly to causes known to the trustees in the fields of Christian work, disaster relief, developing countries, drug & alcohol abuse, cancer research, the mentally handicapped and young people undetaking educational expeditions.

To assist women and girls in financial need and to encourage the development of counselling and community work skills within the area of the Wearmouth Deanery of the Church of England Diocese of Durham.

We raise funds - eg -Fayres, quizzes, coffee mornings, raffles, and also ask the public to support the LoF by arranging events to sraise money for the LoF. All proceeds are used provide items for service users at the Tamworth hospitals - i.e. Sir Robert Peel Hospital and the George Bryan Centre.

Supporting patients at the Royal Worcestershire Hospital

To provide a place for the meeting of deaf, hard of hearing and hearing people to gather for social activities

The income of the charity is applied in paying bursaries for the education at the college of St Mary Winchester of boys being sons of persons in need of monetary assistance who either are or have been members of the Royal College of Surgeons (England) or persons who either are or have been holders of an incumbency of the Church of England in England or Wales.

To relieve patients and former patients of St. Mary's Hospital and others in the community who are sick, convalescing, disabled, handicapped or in need of support and assistance. Generally to support the charitable work of the hospital, and the furthering and promotion of health related matters and concerns within the City of Portsmouth.

Providing a local broadcasting service for hospitals, old people's homes and similar institutions. The Association has studios in Warwick Hospital, Warwick.

To give help to the need and distress of people with cancer or with other illnesses who can benefit from its services, and their families and friends. It does this through counselling, healing, relaxation, diet advice and supporting therapy work. Based in an appropriately equipped centre, all its work is complementary to the treatment given by patients' own doctors or hospitals.

To relieve the blind or the partially sighted, or those labouring under some temporary or permanent incapacity or disability which makes reading a strain, by the provision of recorded tapes or other appropriate amenities. Recording on cassette tapes a selection of news items from the local newspapers each week. Distribute copies of recording to members of the blind and partially sighted community.

We provide a community building for hire to people of the village for activities such as bingos, meetings, parties and surgeries.

Cere-pal is a local group of volunteers,parents and friends who are caring for people with cerebral palsy in and around the Peterborough area. The group exists to enable people to share experiences and provide mutual support. Our fund-raising enables us to provide services, advice, equipment etc through grant aid and lobbying to help those with special needs.

We make grants to individuals in distress and in need and to organisations which operate within the boundaries of Horbury. Each request is individually assessed by the Trust.

SOCIAL MEETINGS ONCE A MONTH AND OUTINGS FOR MEMBERS

Supporting registered charities whose aims and objects conform with those of the Trust, including those which treat or research the causes of physical or mental illness, disease and disability, or provide care and welfare to those who suffer from them. Additionally, charities involved with the care and support of the homeless and foodbanks.

Raise monies through various events ( Shop, Coffee Mornings, Donations, etc.) to benefit the patients and staff at the Alnwick hospitals.

Providing and advancing the study and general knowledge of science and medicine, surgery and dentistry which is achieved by the charity's wholly owned subsidiary which operates a conferencing and education facility with particular emphasis in the medical sector.To support free use of the ARK Centre by members of the public, patient groups and other community.

Distributes money to needy persons in West and East Hanney and Lyford. Helps with the purchase of equipment, e.g.wheelchairs, stair lifts, to needy persons within the three parishes. Assists with payments of hospital transport and grants to assist under 25's in higher education. Grants are only available to residents of East Hanney, West Hanney and Lyford.

Provides comforts and amenities not supplied by NHS for patients and staff of local hospital. Provides ultra modern medical equipment not afforded by NHS - including that for prompt diagnosis and treatment of patients on admission. The thousands spent have benefitted the medical staff and nursing staff but most importantly the patients themselves.

FUNDRAISING FOR AMENITIES FOR PATIENTS, THEIR VISITORS AND STAFF , PROVISION AND DISTRIBUTION OF GIFTS FOR PATIENTS TO MAKE THEIR STAY COMFORTABLE ON FESTIVE OCCASIONS, THE PURCHASE OF PIONEERING EQUIPMENT WHICH COULD NOT HAVE OTHERWISE BE AVAILABLE THROUGH NHS SOURCES.

While support is donated to many local charities, such as the food bank, the ladies of the Inner Wheel Club actively enjoy sending shoe boxes abroad. Funds are also raised for overseas charities such as, schools, hospitals, water aid, etc.
