Deafinitions was established for deaf people BY deaf people. Our motto is "Empower, Explain, Educate" in that by providing visual, accessible information and opportunities for involvement with clear, grassroots explanations, deaf people become better educated about important issues in their lives; such as health, employment, financial issues, etc.; and be empowered to make more informed choices.

The charity is primarily a Sikh Place of Worship and looks after the religious, cultural and social needs of the whole cross-section of the Sikh Community.Care of Elderly, Education, Youth, Sports, Healthy Living, Interfaith, Community Cohesion and Harmony. Offer help and advice to asylum seekers and refugees.

Provision of day services and social activities for adults with Cerebral Palsy and associated disabilities

Supporting Young Carers (children and young people caring for somone, usually a parent or sibling, with a phyical, mental or sensory impairment) through the provision of services and by raising awareness of their needs.

The charity provides practical help to cancer patients and their families from diagnosis through to end of life care. We have a team of volunteer drivers who provide transport to and from hospital for appointments and treatment. Cash grants can be made available where appropriate. We fund various services through the Palliative Care Service and are the parent charity for the Rainbow Hospice Rooms

Our mission is to 1) Provide relief to any person experiencing poverty primarily in north east England. We will do this, in particular but not exclusively, through the provision of food, education and other resources which they could not otherwise afford.2) Promote wellbeing and mental health for those who give and receive aid.

The objective of the charity is to provide affordable residential accommodation for elderly people in need who have a link with Canterbury. The charity provides independent flats or cottages occupied at low rents. The aims of Praxis are to promote and advance the social welfare and housing needs of people who are poor, suffering or recovering from mental health illness, alcoholism or chemical addictions, by providing advice, treatment and support through the provision of both community services and the develpoment and management of housing schemes intended to provide accommodation for homeless people.

For the prevention or relief of poverty and the advancement of health or the saving of lives, the charity: funds research into complementary and alternative medicine, makes grants to individuals in cases of demonstrable hardship or need, supports education and makes grants to institutions and charities who are able to carry out activities that further the objects of Make My Day Better.

PROMPT's purpose is to reduce preventable harm for mothers and babies through:- the promotion of education and research - the provision of advice, treatment and assistance for women in gynaecology and maternity care, and for infants in peri-natal careand seeks to do this by the provision of Practical Obstetric Multi-Professional Training within the UK and Internationally.

Transforming Choice provides a variety of services for people overcoming addictions to alcohol and other substances, including: residential alcohol detox and rehabilitation, community based activities and supportive short and long term housing options.

We are revolutionising recovery from addiction to drug and alcohol. We do this by improving services: bringing the community voice and the evidence-base into service commissioning and working with local providers to improve delivery. We also do this by creating a positive environment around services: destigmatising addiction and helping people in recovery rebuild their lives.

Fund-raising through a shop selling donated goods.

The Theodora Children's Charity brings music, magic and laughter to children living with illness, disability and serious health challenges with Giggle Doctor visits. They are professional performers, trained by the charity, to work in a clinical setting to bring therapeutic play to relieve a childs' distress, and improve their wellbeing and experience of being in hospital.
